HOW MUCH DOES A COATING REALLY COST?
We sell our coatings by the litre whereas many other manufacturers of floor coatings
sell their products by the kilo. They do this to make the buyer think that they are
getting more product than they actually are. A 5 kg pack often contains less than
3 litres because it contains dense filler.
When coatings contain solvent the real cost of a coating becomes even more obscure.
Because the solids content is given as a percentage by weight and the solvent has
a lower density than the other ingredients, its percentage by volume is greater,
so the dry film thickness is even less than a simple calculation would indicate.
Another point to watch is that some water based floor coatings are often sold as
‘solvent free’. If the product data states that the coating is water miscible, water
dilute-able or that equipment can be washed in water the product is almost certainly
contains water.
