SYNAMIN 300 SERIES LOW BAKE
LAMINATING HARDENERS
SYNAMIN 300 series hardeners have been designed for use with SYNTAC liquid epoxy resins for laminating foam cored hulls and other structures where high strength and good heat resistance are required.
SYNAMIN 300 series hardeners are the result of extensive development to provide a solution for the problems caused by out-gassing of the foam core when the laminate is cured at high temperature. Due to the advanced formulation, the mixed resin will cure at 45ºC to produce tough laminates with high tensile strength, excellent impact resistance and heat distortion temperatures in excess of 80ºC. The low cure temperature reduces the amount of gas liberated by the foam core. The products ability to cure slowly at ambient temperatures (20-25ºC) enables the laminate to develop some strength before heat curing. This pre-cure strength is sufficient to resist any out-gassing from the foam core or expansion of trapped air which could cause de-lamination.

SYNAMIN 300 series hardeners have low viscosity and moderate mix ratios which allow the use of undiluted epoxy resins which produce stronger laminates with higher heat distortion temperatures at lower cost. When used with SYNTAC EPAFD resin these hardeners are suitable for resin infusion.
SYNAMIN 300 series hardeners are unlikely to produce allergic reactions to the laminators because they are formulated with non toxic cycloaliphatic-diamines, poly-diamines and additives selected for their minimal hazard. They do not contain phenol, low molecular weight aliphatic amines or aromatic amines.
SYNAMIN 300 series hardeners are available with a choice of working lives to enable the construction of large hulls without fear of premature gellation before the vacuum is applied.
SYNAMIN 310 Ultra slow curative which allows very large sections to be laid up before vacuuming. Working life 10 hours at 18ºC.
SYNAMIN 320 Similar to SYNAMIN 310 but working life 6 hours at 18ºC.

The hull and deck of this yacht were constructed from Kevlar and SYNTAC EPA epoxy resin with a pvc foam core using wet lay-up in a female mould and post cured at 45oC .
